Dust off that go-to superhuman strength, the X-ray and heat vision, icy breath, super-speed, enhanced hearing and invulnerability for it’s time to register for the annual Superhero Run Sept. 8 on the Mill Creek Recreational Trail by Walla Walla Community College, off Tausick Way.
The run helps support program needs of the Walla Walla County Traffic Safety Task Force, said organizer Nancy McClenny-Walters, Traffic Safety Task Force Target Zero manager.
Batman will greet participants. Costumes are part of the fun, but aren’t required. However prizes will be awarded for the best getup.
Superheroes come in all shapes and sizes: so whether you come as Superman or Wonder Woman, Ant-Man or Wasp, Kitty Pryde or Colossus, Harry Potter or Hermione Granger, Black Panther or Storm, Komodo or The Flash of China, Nancy Drew, Andy Hardy, Anne Shirley, Sherlock Holmes, your mom, dad, a friend, a neighbor, a historical figure or that special man, woman, boy or girl off the street, this event’s for you.
Sign in between 8-9 a.m. when pre-race festivities and costume judging will start. The timed 1-mile 5K and 10K races will follow.
The grand prize drawing for all preregistered entrants signed up before Sept. 1 is an Amazon gift card.
Top finishers will receive a medallion and all finishers will receive a Superhero dog tag. Children under 5 will be admitted free.
Fees are $10 for the 1-mile walk; $15 for the 5K walk-run and $20 for the 10K walk-run. Event T-shirts are $15. Register on line at wallawallasuperherorun.itsyourrace.com/.
