As The Little Theatre of Walla Walla enters its 74th season, Walla Walla’s community theater is taking a big step forward and hiring Walla Wallan Mikki Jones as its managing director.
“After an extensive strategic planning process that included conversations with theater patrons, volunteers and stakeholders, it was evident that to effectively meet current and future goals the theater needed a staff person dedicated to the functional demands of the organization,” said board member Bradley Nelson in a release. “A three-year capacity building grant from The Sherwood Trust provided the start-up funds for hiring a managing director.”
The Little Theatre Board of Directors is confident Mikki Jones is the right person to take on this new role at the theater.
Jones brings more than 20 years of experience in working with volunteers, fundraising and organization administration. She also has extensive experience in business management and public relations. Jones is a longterm resident here, most recently serving as co-pastor of Grace Church.
“Several of us knew Mikki when she was involved on stage and behind the scenes of The Little Theatre more than 30 years ago,” said Little Theatre Board Co-President Robert Randall. “The fact that she was familiar with our theater and possessed the skills we were seeking made our selection decision easier.”
Jones will be responsible for the theater’s day-to-day business operations. Her immediate focus will be in assisting the board to develop effective fundraising and volunteer management plans. She is also looking forward to introducing herself to the community, Nelson said, and is already actively involved in helping to promote The Little Theatre’s next production, “Calendar Girls,” which opens at the end of January.
