PENDLETON — The historic Happy Canyon Arena in Pendleton will host an Americana and country rock music festival on June 29 headlined by Raleigh North Carolina’s blue-collar balladeers American Aquarium and Austin, Texas,’ rising red-dirt country stars Shane Smith & the Saints.
Nearly a dozen more acts will perform across two stages during the new Jackalope Jamboree music festival, according to a release. Also expected to perform are Nashville royalty Lilly Hiatt, Austin’s country-poet Carson McHone, Portland’s indigenous psych-rockers Máscaras, LA honky-tonk queen Jaime Wyatt, Oregon music legend Pete Krebs, Boise cowboys Tylor & the Train Robbers, local desert rockers James Dean Kindle and the Eastern Oregon Playboys, modern folk songwriter Bart Budwig from Enterprise, Ore., Portland country favorites The Lonesome Billies, Nashville pop-rocker Brandy Zdan, and from Arizona by-way-of Portland, the dreamy country pop of Kassi Valazza.
The all-ages event will feature local food vendors and concert-goers ages 21 and older will be able to enjoy wine and locally-brewed craft beer, including a limited-release Jackalope Jam Session IPA.
Advance tickets are available through Brown Paper Tickets and at JackalopeJamboree.com. RV and tent camp sites are also available, a short walk to the festival gates. Other accommodations can be found at travelpendleton.org.
Fans in town early can catch the Jackalope Pre-Jambo Party at Pendleton’s Main Street hot-spot, the Great Pacific Wine and Coffee Co. featuring Portland’s Orquestra Pacifico Tropical on June 28. It’s free to all ages.
