TACOMA — Centro Latino and the city of Tacoma Arts Commission invite artists to enter the 2019 Latin Arts Festival Juried Art Show, which will be Aug. 12-24 at Centro Latino, 1208 S. 10th St., Tacoma WA 98405.

The deadline to submit entries is Aug. 1. The theme is “Americans at Work: United to the Core.” Online applications are at latinartsfestival.com. “We encourage everyone to enter. The theme: “Americans at Work: United to the Core” calls for all Americans (North, Central and South Americans) to reflect upon labor issues,” said Susanne Marten in a release.

Reference to “Americans” is to recognize workers throughout the Americas.  On an International scale, workers are aware of  historic to present-day survival hardships associated with migration and the unremitting resilience to keep one’s family and community united. “United to the Core” references the bond among laborers and their commitment to sustain economic, environmental and social justice for all living organisms, according to latinartsfestival.com.

The Latin Arts Festival is a continuous series of educational events designed to celebrate and showcase Latino and Indigenous art, crafts, foods, traditional customs and pageantry, music and dance.

Latin Arts Festival events are planned and produced by the Centro Latino, SER Board of Directors, staff and community volunteers. The goal of the Latin Arts Festival is to inform the public of Latino and Indigenous culture and increase educational and employment opportunities for professional and student Artists.
