DUFUR, Ore. — The Weston-McEwen High School baseball team lost, 10-0 and then 15-2, against Dufur in a district doubleheader here on Tuesday.
W-M (6-14 overall, 6-8 in the league) finished its regular season in fifth in Special District 7 standings.
The TigerScots had no hits when the first game here ended early due to the mercy rule on a Dufur run-scoring single with one out in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Tanner Sater had walked back in the first inning, and he would end up being the only TigerScot to got on base as Dufur pitcher Isaac Anthony tallied 13 strikeouts.
The only TigerScots to put the ball in play against the 5-foot-9 freshman lefty were Weston Phillips in the third inning, Chance McDowell in the fifth — both on comebakers to the mound.
Levie Phillips notched the first TigerScot hit of the day when he singled against Dufur senior right-hander Louis Red Cloud in the second game, leading off the bottom of the first inning (the teams swapped at-bats).
Dufur had already taken a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but Levie Phillips snapped the W-M lineup to life.
Ethan Ezell would finish the nightcap with three hits in three at-bats, Sater doubled while McDowell and Dylan Cain each singled.
Blane Peal worked a base on balls with one out in the first inning to advance Levie Phillips into scoring position, and Dylan Cain singled home their first run of the day.
McDowell then singled home Peal to tie things up at 2-2, but the TigerScots would never score again.
Dufur took the lead for good with two runs in the third, and then added another in the four and one more in the sixth before exploding for nine in the top of the seventh.
