Walla Walla High sophomore Dash Sirmon brought home a victory at the USATF Region 13 Junior Olympic Championships in Tacoma on Sunday.

Sirmon threw the javelin 188 feet, 6 inches to win the boys 15-16 division.

Sirmon only began throwing the javelin in May, and won the Mid-Columbia Conference title for Wa-Hi. He is currently ranked second in the nation.

Sirmon is coached by Nick Lyons.

He’ll now compete in the National Championship in Sacramento on July 28.
