CRESWELL, Ore. — Carson Chester, of Mac-Hi, shot a second-round 84 to finish tied for 11th place among 53 on the individual leaderboard in the Oregon state Class 4A championship tournament here at Emerald Valley Golf Club on Tuesday.
Chester completed the two-day tournament with an 82-84—166, one shot back of Seaside junior Curtis Kundle in 10th place along with Henley’s Mason Snider.
Marist Catholic golfers topped the leaderboard, with sophomore Nick Watts medaling with a 145 and teammate, junior Arnav Reddy, next at 153.
“Not quite what he wanted as the top 10 receive medals, but this doesn’t negate the fact that Carson finished the highest individually of any Mac-Hi golfer at the state tournament in a long, long time,” Mac-Hi coach Barry Wofford said of the Pioneers junior. “He grinded his tail off and tried his hardest on every shot, which is all anybody can ask.
“I am proud of him and his effort.”
