CORVALLIS — Janelle Martinez and Evelyn Garcia together wrapped up their girls doubles season for Mac-Hi, as did LaBraun Albert and Noah Kelly in boys singles for Weston-McEwen, at the state tennis championships here at Oregon State University on Friday.
Each lost a first-round match, and then a consolation quarterfinal.
Martinez and Garcia started the tournament with a 6-1, 6-4 loss to the Klamath Union pair of Elyse Englestader and Mya Phelps.
A consolation quarterfinal then saw Martinez and Garcia finished off by Amelia and Claire Skinkis of Philomath, 8-6.
Sonia Shenoy and Nicole Anderson of Oregon Episcopal ended up winning the state title on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Albert started the tournament with a 6-1, 6-0 loss to Benjaming Suelzie of Cascade.
Kelly suffered a similar fate as Colton Beckstead, of Philomath, handed him a 6-1, 6-2 loss.
Both dropped to the consolation quarterfinals where Albert fell to Zachary Schwin, of Baker, 8-1, and Kelly wrapped up his season with an 8-0 loss to Andrew Hyslop, of Marist Catholic.
Hyslop ended up beating Schwin for the consolation title, as Kristian Peev won the state single title for Valley Catholic.
