MISSOULA, Mont. — The Lewis-Clark Twins scored 10 runs over the final two innings and defeated the Walla Walla Bears 17-11 here Sunday to conclude play in the Missoula summer baseball tournament.
The Walla Wallans, who suffered their only other tournament loss at the hands of the Twins Saturday night by a 5-4 tally, jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning Sunday but couldn’t make the early advantage stand up.
The game was knotted at 5-5 after four innings, but the Twins scored twice in the fifth to take the lead for good and then pulled away from there.
Mason Daniel, batting in the No. 9 hole for Lewis-Clark, stroked three singles and a double to pace the Twins’ 17-hit attack. Daniel knocked in five runs and scored once.
Brayden Turcott totaled four runs batted in, DJ Ricard, Dalton Hart, Austin Kolb and Jose Barajas contributed two hits each, and Cory Stout slammed a solo home run for the Lewiston squad.
Walla Walla’s Morris brothers, Kobe and Kyren, combined for seven hits to pace the Bears. Kobe Morris doubled and singled three times, knocked in three runs and scored a pair while Kyren Morris finished with three singles and two runs scored.
Taylor Hamada belted a solo homer and scored twice for the Bears.
Next up for the Bears is a home doubleheader Tuesday vs. the Prairie Cardinals. The 1 p.m. twin bill will be played at Borleske Stadium.
