Many years ago, when I moved with my family to University Place, our new development was near the Tacoma gun club, which had been there long before there was any development. New people in the area wanted to close-the gun club.
As it turned out, shooting only happened in daytime and they weren’t difficult neighbors.
Here in Walla Walla, it seems people living across from the proposed Bachtold addition have a similar impulse and want to force new neighbors to go away. Many letters to the editor have stated reasons why that should be.
The bottom line seems to be keeping what those living there now have and not sharing. We need affordable housing; other people want homes of their own.
Are these complaints consistent with the “Walla Walla Way”? Traffic concerns may cause an additional bus line to be needed.
