The public is invited to learn about wildfires and how people can better prepare for the fire season with a free presentation at 7 p.m. Wednesday hosted by Walla Walla County Fire District 8 at the Gesa Power House Theatre, 111 N. Sixth Ave.

The event, “Wildfire Awareness,” includes stories and photographs from people who responded to the 2018 California wildfires, information on Walla Walla County emergency management programs, and how people can help during a wildfire. The county’s programs include alerts, evacuations, notifications, ready bags, safety zones and shelter-in-place information.

Walla Walla native and District 8 Chief Bob Clendaniel will lead the presentation.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and seating begins at 6:30 p.m. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, call the box office at 529-6500.
