A new fund at Blue Mountain Community Foundation offers $134,500 in grants for initiatives designed to improve the health of Walla Walla County residents.

Applications for funds from the “Greater Columbia Accountable Community Health” initiative will be accepted through June 17.

A request for proposals is available from the Blue Mountain Community Foundation.

Charitable nonprofit organizations and public agencies are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to local programs.

Applications should address one or more priorities dubbed “Social Determinants of Health.” Those are:

Early learning — to improve the social, emotional and cognitive development for all children.

Housing — to reduce the creation or exacerbation of health problems related to lack of housing.

Health care — help residents learn about existing services, access appropriate services and obtain necessary resources (insurance) to receive care.

Applications may be submitted online only. To apply visit bluemountainfoundation.org. For more information, contact Liz McClure at 529-4371 or bmcf@bluemountainfoundation.org.
