CALDWELL, IDAHO — A Walla Walla man died Monday afternoon in a head-on collision in Canyon County, and the driver who hit him has been arrested, police said.

At 2:56 p.m., Robert Murray, 65, of Council, Idaho, was driving east in his 2014 Dodge Ram. He crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a 2001 Ford Expedition driven by Javier Animas Sobrevilla, 56, of Walla Walla, according to the Idaho State Police.

Sobrevilla died from his injuries at the scene.

His passenger, Deysi Thomsen, 45, of Boise, was airlifted to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.

Murray was arrested for investigation of vehicular manslaughter and housed at Canyon County Jail.

The Parma Idaho Police Deparment’s social media site said his blood alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit.
