A Liberty Lake man pleaded not guilty on Monday to allegedly driving to Walla Walla and threatening to murder his ex-wife’s brother, and rape and kill other family members in front of her.
Victor Vicente, 49, was charged with two counts of domestic-violence harassment after police responded to the 500 block of Pine Street in May regarding an unwanted person.
The woman’s brother told police Vicente had parked outside their apartment and threatened to kill him.
She told police Vicente threatened to kill her family, rape her husband and rape and kill her 10-year-old daughter in front of her, records stated. She told police she thought she’d have to shoot Vicente in self-defense, as the threats had occurred on other occasions, according to records.
Also during Monday’s hearing, Judge Scott Wolfram allowed the defense to seek a competency evaluation from Eastern State Hospital. Vicente’s trial is scheduled for Aug. 6.
