A Walla Walla man charged with three counts of third-degree assault for allegedly fighting with several of his friends and police officers pleaded not guilty Tuesday in court.

Jamison N. Montross, 26, was arrested last month after police say he became drunk and agitated with several friends who came to his home after he texted one saying he shouldn’t be alone, as he and his girlfriend had broken up.

Montross then tried to assault them, according to records, and one tried to call 911, but the call failed.

A friend flagged down a nearby officer, reports said, who assisted another friend in holding Montross down. However, more officers were called, as well as paramedics, who placed a spit-hood on Montross after he tried biting and spitting on the first responders. He managed to spit on three officers regardless, records stated.

On Tuesday, his trial was scheduled for Aug. 14 and 15.
