Richard and Robbe Hutson Schwarz of Walla Walla celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a brunch for close friends and family hosted on Aug. 26, 2018, by son and daughter-in-law Tracy and Stacy Schwarz of Walla Walla.
The couple also celebrated their marital milestone with a trip to Seaside, Ore.
Robbe and Richard met at the Walla Walla County Fair when they where in high school. They wed on Aug. 24, 1968, at the chapel on the grounds of the Jonathan M. Wainwright Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Richard worked at the Washington State Penitentiary, for 10 years as a correctional officer and another 20 years there as a mental health counselor. He retired in 2001.
He enjoys restoring vintage off-road motorcycles, Hodaka being a favorite. He also enjoys biking and camping and is an active member of Walla Walla City Seventh-day Adventist Church and the Hodaka Motorcycle Club.
Robbe was a homemaker until their children were in high school. She then became secretary at City Church where she is a member. She is still employed.
The couple also have a daughter and son-in-law, Jodi and J.P. Thew of Waitsburg; and two grandchildren.
