Les and Anita Andersson Cunningham of Walla Walla celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family in Billings, Mont., and during a monthlong trip in Anita’s homeland of Sweden.
Anita immigrated to the U.S. in 1962. She and Les met in Glendale, Calif., while she was in nurse’s training. They wed on Aug. 20, 1968.
Anita graduated in 1967 from Glendale Adventist Hospital School of Nursing and worked at Walla Walla General Hospital and Home Health. She teaches piano part time and enjoys music.
Les earned a civil engineering degree in 1971 from Walla Walla College, now University, and worked with the U.S Army Corps of Engineers until retirement in 2006. Les enjoys gardening, bird watching and woodworking.
The Cunninghams are members of Eastgate Seventh-day Adventist Church and enjoy traveling to see their five grandchildren.
They have a daughter, Christine Wells of Connell, Wash.; and a son, Martin Cunningham of Johnson City, Tenn.; and five grandchildren.
