Walla Walla natives Jim and Mary Bradford Thornton will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary in December.
The pair were born and grew up in Walla Walla and married on Dec. 17, 1958, at Pioneer United Methodist Church. Jim’s uncle, the Rev. Marvin Sporleder, officiated.
The Thorntons met after Jim returned from serving with the U.S. Army in Korea. Mary worked for West Coast Airlines at the time.
Her parents were Richard and Lea Bradford and his parents were Edgar and Evelyn Thornton.
They moved extensively for various job opportunities, then returned to Walla Walla in 1988. Jim worked here in real estate and Mary took care of their home.
The couple has two daughters, Lisa Anderson and Joanie Fullen, both of Walla Walla; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and another due soon.
