Former Walla Walla residents Toni and Bruce Beverly, now of Paradise Valley, Ariz., will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary with a trip to Seattle, Banff and Lake Louise in Alberta, Canada, and Walla Walla.
The Beverlys wed on June 24, 1978, at Northminster Presbyterian Church in Phoenix, Ariz. At 113 degrees, it was one of the hottest days of the year. Toni’s satin and pearl wedding gown was originally worn during World War II by her mother Hilda Waltemeyer when she married Tony Lombardi on June 5, 1943.
For several years, Toni stayed home to care for their children. She later worked in the mortgage business until retirement in July 2012.
Bruce’s career in mortgage banking brought the family to Walla Walla in July 1988. He was vice president/service manager at Old Stone Mortgage. It eventually became Meridian Mortgage until it closed.
Bruce accepted a senior vice president post in Tennessee in 1994. The family enjoyed the people but not the tornados and weather so in 1997, they returned to Arizona.
Bruce joined Matrix Financial Services and eventually became president and chief operations officer. Bruce made a career change in 2004 and became chief executive officer of Great American Title Agency headquartered in Phoenix.
The Beverlys and children Traci, Bryan and Kevin, left lots of good friends when they moved in 1994. Their oldest son, Jason Crisp, and two grandsons, Tj and Jake, live in Walla Walla. To contact the family, email Toni at Ttbeverly@aol.com.
