A new flagpole gifted by members of area Girl Scouts troops will greet visitors to Lewis & Clark Trail State Park on U.S. Route 12.

Sue Asplund, a volunteer with Girl Scouts of Eastern Washington/North Idaho SU 492 said members have earned funds to donate a commercial flagpole to Lewis & Clark Trail State Park, 36149 U.S. Route 12, between Waitsburg and Dayton.

SU492 is comprised of troops from Walla Walla and Columbia counties.

The Girl Scouts annually camp at the park and this is their latest service project for the park.

The flagpole will be at the entrance to the park and lit 24 hours per day, Sue said.

A dedication ceremony will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at the park.
