The Little Theatre of Walla Walla will hold auditions for the comedy “Calendar Girls” by Tim Firth on Tuesday, November 13 and Wednesday, November 14 from 7-9 p.m. The play requires ten female actors (age 20-70) and four male actors (age 20-60). Additional backstage crew will also be needed.
When Annie's husband John dies of leukemia, she and best friend Chris resolve to raise money for a new settee in the local hospital waiting room. They manage to persuade four fellow Women’s Institute (WI) members to pose nude with them for an "alternative" calendar, with a little help from hospital porter and amateur photographer Lawrence. The news of the women's charitable venture spreads like wildfire, and hordes of press soon descend on the small village of Knapeley in the Yorkshire Dales. The calendar is a success, but Chris and Annie's friendship is put to the test under the strain of their new-found fame.
“Calendar Girls” will be directed by George Smith and Kay Fenimore-Smith. Performances will be January 25, 26, February 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, and 10. “Calendar Girls” is produced by Barbara McKinney with permission of Samuel French. For more information or questions, call 509-386-8560 or 509-520-5095.
